20050916 - Jacqueline Bradham, a junior from Ft Lauderdale, and Antony
Waruinge, a junior who is originally from Kenya but went to high
school in Tampa, study together in a USF lounge Friday afternoon.
Bradham, a biomedical science major, came to USF both for good
opportunities in her field of study and the reputation of a strong
minority community. Waruinge cited the lower cost and smaller campus
size compared to bigger state schools like UF in addition as factors
in coming to USF. Six of the state's 11 public universities reported a
drop in black freshmen enrollment this fall despite an increase in
overall enrollment. (Brian Cassella / St. Petersburg Times)
